On Thursday, it was widely reported that Kristen Stewart had won the coveted lead role in the big screen adaptation of William Styron’s novel, Lie Down in Darkness.
The Twilight star allegedly beat out Hunger Gamers actress Jennifer Lawrence for the part, but it looks like those rumors were false. Stewart’s agent, Ken Kaplan released a statement clarifying things:
“This movie is at a very early stage,” he wrote. “It is unfinanced and while Kristen is ‘attached’ to play the role, there is no guarantee that, if the movie gets made, she will actually do the role. All of the reporting on this is extremely premature.”Another source close to the production adds, “While it’s exciting to see all the interest the project is generating, the film is still in the pre-production process and no offers to cast have been made as of yet.”
Lie Down in Darkness centers around a dysfunctional Virginia family in which Stewart or Lawrence would play the daughter.
